Spelthorne Borough Council are creating a design code, incorporating rules that will influence the design of future buildings and public spaces in Staines.
The authority has launched a public consultation in Staines to find out what people would like to include in the design code.
To help gather opinions, two-hour walking and digital tours of the district are being held from now until Thursday 18 July.
The council said the tours will be a chance for people to share ideas about urban development with council officers and others on the walks.
