Letter to 3 Staines councillors
Monday 27 January 2020
Dear Councillors Doerfel, Lagden and Siva
You were elected to represent the views and interests of the people of Staines, but instead you are promoting a scheme to fill the town centre with over 4000 high-rise flats, including 288 on Bridge St car park, 372 on the Oast House, 192 on the telephone exchange, 178 on 96-104 Church St, in the Conservation Area, and an astonishing 1,744 on the Elmsleigh Centre.
This would result in a forest of 14-storey blocks in the town, and blight its appearance and character for ever. Infrastructure and congestion problems would make it unliveable.
In addition you have tricked hundreds of people into signing a petition to ‘save the Green Belt’ without revealing its consequences for Staines and other urban areas.
You are not suitable to be Borough Councillors and we call upon you to resign.
From the Committee of the Staines Town Society
