The Dept. for Transport is consulting until 25 May on proposals for a 3rd runway at Heathrow, and separately on airspace policy, which determines the routes of flight paths and thus the distribution of noise disturbance. We will respond opposing the third runway and emphasising the impact of noise on people’s lives.  You can find the consultation documents by googling runway consultation or airspace policy.  We urge you to respond, even if it’s only a single sentence stating your view, as the total number of responses is counted.  For the runway consultation, reply by email to runwayconsultation@dft.gsi.gov.uk or by post to FREEPOST RUNWAY CONSULTATION.  You may find the HACAN website a useful resource.

The Neighbourhood Planning & Infrastructure Bill will make it harder for planners to prevent excessive amounts of housing being forced upon communities. The permitted development right for large extensions is also being extended to May 2018, and the right to convert offices to flats has been made permanent.

The proposed Crossrail 2 will be a north-south link from Euston to Clapham Junction bypassing Waterloo. Development is expected alongside the lines which will then continue to Euston.  As it happens, these include the Kempton Park line.  However the current leader of the Borough Council has spoken very strongly against the Jockey Club’s plans to build houses on Kempton Park.
