SBC has published the responses to its Issues and Options consultation on the next Local Plan.  This was not widely advertised and only 181 people responded to the question of where the obligatory 590 new houses per year should be built.  Most wanted to save the Green Belt, which means there must be high-rise flats in the towns.  Votes for spreading the load around the borough and votes for a focus on Staines to protect the rest of the borough were about equal.

We note that there was a relatively high response from Sunbury, probably because of fears for Kempton Park.

Planners have been delayed by work on Heathrow expansion, and the next Plan consultation, on the preferred options, will not be until July 2019, with the intention of submitting the Plan to the Secretary of State in May 2020 for adoption in April 2021.

We have asked for the next consultation to be publicised in the Borough Bulletin.
